For help with WiFiBuddy, email support@alkinum.io. Include “WiFiBuddy” in the subject and describe what you expected to happen.

What to include

  • Your macOS version and Mac model.
  • The WiFiBuddy version shown in the app.
  • Which view or action caused the problem.
  • A screenshot with network names or other private details hidden when possible.

You can also report a reproducible software issue in the public WiFiBuddy issue tracker. Do not post SSIDs, BSSIDs, IP addresses, or other private network details in a public issue.

Common questions

Why does WiFiBuddy request location access?

macOS protects Wi-Fi metadata such as SSID, BSSID, and country code behind Location Services. WiFiBuddy requests access only when you choose to reveal that metadata. It does not request or store your geographic coordinates.

Read Permissions and privacy for the complete explanation and steps for changing access.

Why are network names hidden?

Confirm that Location Services is enabled for WiFiBuddy in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Return to WiFiBuddy and run another scan.

Why is a network missing?

Access points can stop broadcasting, change channels, or briefly disappear during a scan. Confirm Wi-Fi is enabled, wait for the next scan, and remove any band filter that could hide the network.

Does WiFiBuddy change my router settings?

No. WiFiBuddy observes and explains nearby Wi-Fi conditions. Apply channel, width, and security changes using your router or access point administration interface.

Privacy requests

WiFiBuddy does not operate an account system or collect scan results. Privacy questions can be sent to support@alkinum.io.
